Bruno - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Bruno's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 5/6 - Bruno is starting to settle in to the new environment. He is still sensitive with being leashed up, but doing better. He met Jen today without any issue and they instantly became best friends!
  • 5/7 - Another wonderful day with Bruno! He's settling in and is such a happy boy. He is eagerly seeking attention from both Mark and Jen. Today, we had him out on his flat collar only, without the prong, and he had no issues. Mark's wife came home and he just curiously watched her go through the gate. When she started talking, he gave some slight barks, but stayed calm and did a fair job listening to "Quiet" and "Leave-It". Huge progress already!
  • 5/8 - Bruno is starting to engage in play with Mark and Jen and is getting out on the flat collar regularly now. We love getting to this point as play is a sign of a certain comfort level that we can really start building upon. We are thrilled to get here with him already! He did some grumbling at the mailman today, but listened pretty well with "Leave-It." There's room to grow, but great work so far!
  • 5/13 - Bruno got out with Drogo and did very well! He was a bit unsure at times but was paying attention to social cues and responding appropriately overall. An excellent start to increased socialization with other dogs!
  • 5/14 - Bruno continues to do well in engaging with Drogo, building confidence and comfort. He is also building confidence with Mark and Jen and decided Jen should give him belly rubs today as he snuggled up close!
  • 5/17 - Bruno is out without a leash in the run and doing well with the smaller pack. He is showing interest in wanting to engage with other members of the pack as well and no signs of aggression either when he approaches their crate or vice versa! He's blossomed into play and affection with the trainers as well. He will run up to the fence line still when people walk by, but is doing a great job listening to "Leave-It" in those moments.
  • 5/20 - Bruno had a great walk today. He did a bit of pulling, but responded well to "heel" when given the command, even if it was shortlived and needing frequent reminders. He was definitely excited and animated, but still had his listening ears on. We passed some dogs across the street and he basically ignored them with a firm "Leave-It". We passed people in closer proximity, in the street and along sidewalks. He was a bit more excited with the nearness, but did well, again, listening to "Leave-It."
  • 5/21 - Bruno is out with the full pack, engaging in play and having a blast!
  • 5/26 - Bruno met Mark's nephew, Nick, and was instantly eager and excited to see him, interact with him and receive pets and attention from the new guy!!!
  • 5/29 - Bruno had a great walk today! He's still very excitable when he sees other dogs, but in a friendly way. He really just wants to run over and say hi, however, we are continuing to work "Leave-It" to get him to settle his energy. He is doing much better with passing humans with the "Leave-It" command. He would love to say hi to everyone he passes, dogs and humans alike. Now that he is so active in his play, he assumes that every dog and human wants to engage in this glorious thing called play as well. :P
  • 5/31 - Bruno got out with Sandy today, who also shows dog reactivity traits. They did very well together on their walk. There's an added challenge to pack walks as the dogs start to feed off of each other's energy instead of focusing solely on the human. We did pass some barking dogs behind a fence and they both reacted, though mostly just with excitability for Bruno, but received corrections for not listening to "Leave-It". Bruno also barked intimidatingly at a little girl who passed us along the sidewalk and got in trouble again. After that, he minded extremely well to "Leave-It" with all other dogs and people that we passed. When we got back, both dogs went to drink some water and Bruno got too much in Sandy's face while she was drinking. She showed him her teeth and she got a correction. Bruno took the cue and backed off (which is great on his part, paying attention to social cues)! Then, we pulled out the kiddie pool to cool down and had a blast!
  • 6/3 - Bruno took a walk through downtown St. Johns today and did extremely well! He passed dogs and people without any issue, showing curiosity and interest without any aggression. Fantastic work. The only time he did a bit of grumbling was at the park when some kids had passed. I had him sitting and watching them go by, which caused some frustration, much like last week. Will continue to work that particular frustration which seems to come from having to sit and not being able to smell people in passing...
  • 6/4 - Bruno got to spend a large part of the day hanging out with Rodeo and Drogo playing and socializing. We spent some time playing in the kiddie pool as well!
  • 6/7 - Bruno continues to work his socialization during walks and in the run. He is doing well and having a great time coming in to his own. He can still be really excitable, but a calm, firm "uh-uh", "Gentle" or "Leave-it", depending on the situation, instantly gets his attention and obedience. Great work.
