Cleo - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Cleo's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 4/22 - Cleo has relaxed into the new environment and has made it out into the full pack to begin working her socialization with other dogs!
  • 4/23 - Cleo had a great walk today. She needed a few reminders to heel, but not too bad. She did well with Let's Go and Come to keep moving and not get distracted. She did some barking at a few dogs across the street, receiving some corrections the first time, along with being told "Leave-It". The second dogs passed, a firm "Leave-It" and she only did some slight grumbling. By the 3rd time passing dogs, barking at us from their fence line, and being told to "Leave-It", she didn't bark once, kept walking and ignored the dogs! Sit is about 50/50. Sometimes she does it at the first command, sometimes it takes a good 3 times of being told and a hand on the butt to remind her. Stay is good when close by, but as distance increases, she breaks. Her recall on leash is good, especially up close. It gets spottier with added distance and distractions.
  • 4/24 - Cleo had another great walk today. She's very skittish in certain situations, so we are working on building confidence in new things and experiences. She did an excellent job passing other dogs today and obeyed a "Leave-It" even when other dogs were barking and lunging at her. She is still breaking her sit/stay quite a bit, largely as she anticipates that she is going to be called over and wants to stay close anyway. We will continue to work that.
  • 5/6 - Sorry for not being able to get pics, etc up on the site. Jen was on vacation and I had no spare time to get them up. Cleo is doing quite well. She is smart, but very willful! Typical of this little breed. She has a short attention span, but a lot of this can be chalked up to her age. All in all, going well.
  • 5/7 - An excellent walk and work in the park today! She is getting much better with barking at dogs in passing, responding well to a firm "Leave-It" and even got to meet another small dog on leash today. She was nervous, but also very curious and engaged in proper social courtesies! She rocked her obedience work and recall in the park, even with the inherent distractions! She's very eager to please and much prefers general praise and affection over treats.
  • 5/8 - Cleo is really rocking it now! She's still a little spotty with "Down" but the rest of the obedience is spot on. Her recall has been stellar lately as well. She's doing much better in her confidence in coming across things she deems as scary during walks and even walked alongside a bicycle today!
  • 5/11 - Cleo has been out with the full pack and while she doesn't like to be crowded, she is doing a great job with all of the dogs!
  • 5/13 - Another excellent walk. Cleo has a lovely heel and has been doing a great job on her obedience work, even with the added challenge of being in a park with distractions! Today, she eagerly allowed a little boy to give her pets.
  • 5/15 - Cleo flat out rocked the recall work today! She did Long Line in the park with and without distraction, as well and off leash recall in the run, with and without distraction. Excellent work. She also reinforced basic obedience today. She is doing an excellent job with Sit and stay. Down is spot on if you have a treat, but she resists that command a bit still without a treat. She's a smart girl!
