Dez  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Dez's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 4/13 - After a slow start, and lots of reactivity and aggression, we were able to finally get Dez out with the ever magical Rodeo, our 14 1/2 yr old ACD. He is the most level headed guy for this highly reactive girl to be around. It took LOTS of work just to get her to not go into attack mode immediately, but by the session's end Dez was under vocal control and even sat quietly nearby. This was an exhausting session for sweet little Dez, and as soon as we were finished and back inside she was asleep. Learning can be draining! LOL!
  • 4/23 - Dez got out with Drogo and did an excellent job! She did a bit of posturing at first, but attitude was quickly and easily remedied with slight verbal correction!
  • 4/24 - Dez got out today with pack members Sunny and Guinness! Again, she did some initial posturing at first, but responded well to verbal correction. She even started engaging in play with fellow pack members!
  • 4/27 - Dez continues to do well out with the pack. She gets a bit overbearing and in other dog's faces and received a warning snap from another dog today. She did not retaliate and both dogs parted ways amicably and with their attention on their trainer's commands. Excellent work! Later in the afternoon, she did much better staying out of the dog's faces when trying to engage.
  • 4/29 - A new dog came into the office today and Dez went up to the crate to say hello. The dog growled and Dez had no negative response to the dog's behavior. Excellent work Dez!
  • 5/5 - Dez got reactive at a new dog who approached her crate last night. To her credit, the dog is new, nervous and has some intense aggressive energy and she immediately stopped with a sharp verbal correction from Mark. Dez did pretty well on her walk today. She still did some lunging and barking at dogs that we passed, earning some corrections, however she was responsive to the corrections and not at all like the tazmanian devil she was at the start of her training. Definite progress!
  • 5/11 - Dez had an okay walk today. She's still struggling with a bit of reactivity, in the hardest to overcome areas: dogs barking/guarding their fencelines. However, she's rocking it out with the main pack, off leash in the run!
