FINN  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Finn's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 10/20 - Finn was definitely nervous and did a fair share of chewing and crying upon arrival, but has now settled down and is starting to acclimate to the environment.
  • 10/22 - Great walk today! Finn needed the occasional reminder to heel, but has a very nice heel when he is doing it. Sometimes would need to be told to sit a few times, but often did it right away. He even got a good "Watch Me" in. He seems to know a lot of the commands, just needs to practice doing them every time he's told. Great start!
  • 10/23 - Still some excited pulling today, but Finn is very eager to please! He met a couple of new people and we were able to work "off" to stop him from jumping up.
  • 10/26 - Finn has gotten into the pack and is doing well with play and general socialization. He is comfortable in the environment now and is starting to listen to Mark. Now the real training begins!
  • 10/29 - Another great day of play. Got to walk with friend, Bruce, today, which provided a challenge with the extra distraction. Had a much harder time listening and following basic obedience. He got worked up at some dogs barking behind a fence and struggled with "Leave-It". Will continue to work.
  • 10/30 - Excellent walk! Still working "Leave-It." Did well with Sit. Had a couple of dog interactions and did well. Haven't had any issue with mouthiness. Still does occasional jumping up when excited, but not as much. Continuing to work that as well, when it happens.
  • 10/31 - Another great walk! Did better with "Leave-It"!
  • 11/2 - Finn had his best walk yet and with the whole pack, no less! He did his least amount of pulling, did not try to go exploring without permission and sat on command. Excellent work!
  • 11/5 - Had a big pack walk again and Finn did very well. A little pulling still, but improved.
  • 11/6 - Another pack walk with fellow Live-In Clients Zooey, Amica and Kona. Finn's best pack walk yet! Only needed to be reminded to heel in the first few minutes, then settled in and kept proper pace and focus. Great work! Finn still tries to jump up for attention on occasion, but is more regularly showing appropriate, calm cues for attention by walking up and looking up calmly for pets.
  • 11/9 - Mark has been working "Off" fairly heavily with Finn. He did not jump up on people or doors once today! Good start, now to keep it going!
  • 11/12 - Finn jumped up on the door once this weekend and got corrected. Today, he was back to no jumping on the door! He tried half jumping up a couple of times today in an effort for attention, but a quick "Uh-uh" and he stopped mid track and sat to ask for pets instead.
  • 11/13 - Finn definitely showed the teenager sass today by running away in a game of "you can't catch me!" He got in trouble for that and pouted for about 1/2 an hour. Then he came out and was put on a Down/Stay in the office and held that for a 1/2 hour (his new record here!) He had a great walk with minimal pulling, although he needed to be reminded to "Leave-It" a few times with birds/squirrels and trying to stop to take smell breaks. No jumping on people or doors today!
  • 11/16 - Finn has gotten some good work in with jumping on the furniture! He's jumped up a few times on things, gotten a correction and then stayed off for the rest of the day. He's learning, but it will take repetition and consistency at home as well!
  • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 11/27 - Finn is challenging boundaries a bit with us too and getting a quick reminder that we didn't forget the rules! He's tried jumping up a couple of times on people and doors, as well as pulling during his walk. Hopefully the short refresher will help the rules stick a bit better! He has picked up with play in the pack without skipping a beat. Super cute!
