Greta  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Greta's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 1/11 - Greta is still a bit nervous in the new environment, but she's starting to warm up. At first, she didn't want to interact with office manager, Jen, but she went out with her today and after a few minutes started actively seeking attention and affection from her.
  • 1/14 - Greta is out in the full pack and doing extremely well! She's already made some amazing friends and is actively engaging in play!
  • 1/16 - Greta has made a couple of fantastic friends and is enjoying romping around with fellow German Shepherd, Chloe!
  • 1/18 - Greta is still a bit shy with people, but such a love bug when she opens up to you!
  • 1/21 - Her confidence in the pack is really building! She is very comfortable in the group and behaving appropriately in those interactions.
  • 1/23 - Greta is doing pretty well with "Leave-It" and "Let's go", but is still struggling a bit with "come" (recall), especially off leash.
  • 1/25 - More amazing group/pack play and socialization.
  • 1/28 - Greta had a good walk down to the park today with a lovely heel. She did target some kids and struggled listening to "Leave-It" prompting a correction. She snapped back and received a second correction. She was wonderfully obedient after realizing she wasn't the boss. She sat at every intersection on command and in the park and was very eager for praise and affection. She even plopped down in the middle of the park path to beg for belly rubs! All "Leave-Its", "Let's go" and "Comes" were perfect for the remainder of the walk. Smart girl!
  • 1/29 - An excellent walk today. Greta had zero issues passing any dogs or people. She wanted to smell around a lot, but a gentle "Let's Go" or "Come" would get her to leave things alone and keep walking with a good heel.
  • 1/30 - Greta and friend, Chloe, worked and played hard today, developing proper play and socialization skills!
  • 2/1 - Greta, Chloe and Drogo had fun collectively playing in the water today!
  • 2/5 - Greta and Chloe continue to play very well together. Greta can get a bit overwhelmed and snaps at Chloe in warning, when Chloe is overbearing in play. However, neither has been aggressive and they take cues from one another well.
  • 2/8 - Another great day of play and practice. Greta is still struggling with recall off leash. We will be spending more time focusing on that next week.
  • 2/11 - Greta had a fantastic walk today! We went through downtown St. Johns, where she bravely sniffed at every adult we passed. She got extremely nervous around the elementary school, however. One kid ran past her and she jumped away, but the good news is that there was zero growling or aggressive response. One brave little girl walked with us for a couple blocks and let Greta occasionally sniff at her hand, but if she made sudden movements, Greta would quickly back away. Overall, well done by Greta as we continued to build her confidence! She did much better in her recall work today, although she thought it a bit of a game. She would run to me every time when called, but would sometimes run past me and around. So, we started working a Sit command when she would run to me in response to "Come." Will continue to work.
  • 2/12 - Greta made a new friend today in the Great Dane, Lincoln! They engaged in appropriate, fun play. Great work Greta!
  • 2/15 - Greta is doing well with her recall work. She is doing better coming when called, even without treats, but the treats are still strong motivation to get her to sit after coming when called.
  • 2/18 - Greta did great work coming when called without treats today! She made a new friend with little Perry, the basenji and did a good job listening to "Leave-It" when she was a little overbearing in play with the lil' guy.
