Harley  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Harley's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 7/27 - Harley is adjusting to the new environment. She adores Mark and worked on warming up to Jen today. She was initially reactive towards her next door neighbor in the office, but is starting to settle a bit and realize that she's safe.
  • 7/28 - Harley is still pretty nervous, needing coaxing to come out of the crate and then again to come back into the office, but she's doing well with going to the bathroom and eating, which are great signs of adjustment. She's warming up to Jen and adores Mark.
  • 7/31 - Harley is doing well. She's finally settled in and will now happily go in and out of the office without coaxing. She LOVES getting pets and attention and is such a sweetie! Now the real work begins. She did show some teeth and did a bit of growling at a pack mate a couple of days ago. It was very subtle. It's great that she is comfortable enough to start showing those signs though, as it gives us moments to instantly step in and correct!
  • 8/4 - Harley is still occasionally showing teeth and growling ever so slightly at various dogs next to her crate, which we are continuing to work.
  • 8/7 - Today, a couple of new dogs came into the office and when Harley was returning from one of her times outside, she went up to each of their crates and sniffed at them, saying hello and even wagging her tail, without any negative reactions! This is what we want to see in the office! Yay!
  • 8/10 - Harley had a great weekend and has been doing well with various pack mates as the in office positive experiences keep growing. Today, a new dog was put next to her and she's been amicably sniffing at her through the crate showing proper interest without any negative reactions so far.
  • 8/12 - Harley is improving with her recall, although she still occasionally chooses to ignore the call. About 90% of the time, she is all over the recall, it's just that last 10% of focus we are still working on!
  • 8/13 - Harley got out on leash with Rodeo and Drogo today. She was incredibly nervous, but didn't have any negative reactions towards them.
  • 8/14 - Harley got out again with the boys today, off leash. She was a little more confident and even traded some subtle sniffs with the boys. Good work. On the other hand, a new dog was placed next to her in the office and she has been growling and baring teeth at the new dog, occasionally. Progress in some areas and some struggles still in others. We'll continue to work this. (Mark took some pictures of Harley and the boys, I'm waiting on those to get sent to me and then I can get them up on the page)!
  • 8/18 - Harley continues her work with Rodeo and Drogo and is showing more interest in the other dogs in the office. Good progress all around!
  • 8/19 - Harley got out briefly for a short play session with a fellow office mate today, Rosie. She did extremely well and even started to explore some play!
  • 8/21 - Harley got out with a couple other office mates, Gypsy and Tilly. Again, another great socialization session and some play time as well!
  • 8/24 - Another great walk today. We passed many dogs in the park. With a preemptive "Leave-It", she did a good job ignoring them. The ones that were harder for her were the ones that pulled towards her. She showed a lot of interest, but wasn't reactive. However, her listening in those situations could be better. We'll continue to work that.
  • 8/25 - Harley passed dogs barking along their fenceline today, which is a notoriously huge challenge for dogs and she did extremely well! She showed some interest in wanting to get closer to the dogs, but listened well to "Leave-It" and continued along with her walk.
  • 8/26 - Another excellent walk today. More dogs and fencelines, without any issues. We were also passed by some bikes and skateboards today and with a preemptive "Leave-It", she barely gave notice. Excellent work.
  • 8/28 - Harley had an awesome walk today! We passed a dog on leash in close proximity and moved into a driveway to let them pass (social distancing). Harley was told a preemptive "Leave-It" and did just that! She wasn't overly interested or reactive. She nailed it! So proud of the girl!
