Jeter  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Jeter's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 5/4 - Jeter is definitely nervous. He did a lot of growling and barking at Jen today as she entered the office. He got out in the run with Mark and Jen, on leash today and was fairly scared at first. Eventually, he started to settle in a bit and even allowed a few quick pets from each of them, here and there. By the time they came back in the office, his tail was wagging and he accepted a few more pets as well.
  • 5/8 - Jeter is starting to warm up to the trainers now and is even attempting to play a bit in the run with Jen! He's still not the biggest fan of the other dogs in the office.
  • 5/11 - Jeter had a great time playing with Jen in the run today! We had some new dogs arrive in the office today and Jeter did a bit of barking initially, but responded well to verbal correction and calmed himself down. He didn't give any attitude toward the new guys the rest of the day!
  • 5/12 - Jeter's prey drive definitely shone strong on his walk today. He wanted to lunge at every dog and bird he encountered and received a few corrections as a result. He gave the tiniest bark at a person we passed but then quickly checked in with his trainer with a nose to the hand. He did that a few times during the walk as well, which is a good sign. His fear drives a lot of his behaviors as well, as was evidenced by a container on the sidewalk that had gotten knocked over by the wind. It took a bit of coaxing to get him to pass by it. We'll continue to work on "Leave-It" and build his confidence.
  • 5/13 - Jeter had some fun exploring more play with Jen and also with our jolly ball today. Then, he got to work on leash with Mark's dogs, Rodeo and Drogo. He was very nervous and jumpy, but did very well with them overall. He did some courteous sniffing, but didn't want to interact with them too much to start.
  • 5/15 - We've had numerous new dogs come into the office and Jeter has been excellent with not being reactive to new dogs in the office. Progress!
  • 5/18 - We definitely had some prey drive again on our walk today, but a slight improvement in listening to "Leave-It". Jeter did a bit of pulling and needed some frequent reminders to heel. He has a nice heel when he's focused however. He did much better at passing people and dogs today. We had a moment in the park with a gentleman passing by and Jeter started to give some tiny gruffs, but stopped when told "Leave-It". He was nervous but again, was listening better.
  • 5/19 - Jeter put some work in with Rodeo and Drogo again today. He did very well and we were able to let go of the leash to allow him to roam and interact more freely!
  • 5/22 - Another successful pack experience today for Jeter with Rodeo and Drogo. We put him on a super short leash and gave him more freedom to interact and he did so very well! He even showed interest in trying to get Rodeo to play for a second, but then quickly overwhelmed himself with the idea. A great step forward for him though!
  • 5/26 - Just this weekend, Mark finally got Jeter to the point that he could be off leash and without any training gear out in the run with his boys, Rodeo and Drogo. He did really well with them and even did a play bow/bark at Rodeo, but then quickly overstimulated himself and got scared at the idea of play. He wants to engage and succeed, but is still lacking a lot of confidence, waiting for things to escalate out of control, so he hasn't quite let go of that edge. We would love to give him a bit more time to get more comfortable, gain confidence and possibly even try to give him some interaction with other pack members, before re-introducing him to his own pack.
  • 5/27 - Another excellent day of off leash time with Rodeo and Drogo. Jeter is building confidence and was even able to play a bit with Jen with the other dogs in the run, without too much worry about the other dogs crowding.
  • 5/29 - Jeter got out with the big pack today, on leash and did very well. He was nervous, but allowed other dogs to sniff him and returned the favor. He was a bit clingly, but grew in confidence as time progressed. He handled not only individuals saying hi but the group crowding him as well. Great work!
  • 6/2 - Jeter got out with some new friends, Albus and Neville, off leash and did extremely well! He even attempted to engage in a bit of play!
  • 6/3 - Another day of hanging with his new buds and we have fully launched into pack play without any issues. We are over the moon from these past few days and the progress he's making! See video below!
  • 6/4 - Jeter continues to work on his pack socialization skills. Today, another member came into his smaller pack, an Akita puppy named Mogi, who is still learning social boundaries and to read body language, so she can be a bit overbearing in her play and quite twitchy and bouncy. She's like the energizer bunny! We've noticed that Jeter is much edgier with sudden movements, so have held off on introducing Mogi into the mix for a while. Jeter did show some attitude upon his first moment out with Mogi and was quickly corrected by Mark with the hose. After that, he engaged in play and socialized perfectly with Mogi and the other pack members for the remainder of the day!
