Kaley - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Kaley's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 6/3 - Kaley is very nervous in the new environment, but she did eat her breakfast this morning, which is a good sign in adjusting!
  • 6/4 - Kaley got out with Rodeo and Drogo today. She was still extremely nervous and generally avoided interactions with them. Drogo got in her space once and she showed teeth, to which she got a quick correction from Mark. She had no other issues with the boys after that. We are slowly working to build her confidence in new and various situations.
  • 6/7 - Kaley is starting to show more interest/bonding with Mark and Jen, relaxing more into receiving pets and affection, however, she is still extremely nervous and skittish. She is very slow to warm, poor girl.
  • 6/10 - Kaley has gotten out with the big pack now for a couple of days and is doing very well! She's still rather nervous, but she is doing well with her socialization and you can tell her curiosity is starting to outweigh her fear in the pack.
  • 6/11 - It's blazing hot today, so we are having pretty mellow social times in the run today. We've got the kiddie pool out, but so far Kaley is only interested in drinking from it. She did have quick moments of attempting to engage in play today and actively sought pets/attention on occasion. Great progress!
  • 6/14 - Kaley is definitely settling in now. She becoming braver in the run and with her interactions, although she is still quickly overwhelmed in play.
  • 6/18 - Kaley is starting to engage more in play now and met a new dog in the pack today without any issues!
  • 6/19 - Had a new dog in the office with dog aggression issues today. She growled at Kaley as we were getting ready to go out on a walk and Kaley was not tolerating that. Both dogs tried to attack each other through the crate. We've made some progress, but obviously still have a long way to go.
  • 6/21 - Kaley had a challenging walk today. She was incredibly nervous with the big trucks driving by and very overstimulated. She did pretty well and we worked hard on her heel, keeping focus and pushing through her fears. She did incredibly well when passing dogs or people across the street. We did pass a few people on the sidewalk and she would skittishly run behind and try to put the trainer between her and the other person, so we started working on getting her to pass people without running to the other side, to build confidence and security. Where she really struggled today was skateboards. The was terrified by them and unfortunately, we came across quite a few skateboarders during out walk today. We will continue to work on building confidence in new situations and with things she is showing fear towards, such as skateboards.
  • 6/24 - We had a lot of new dogs join the pack and Kaley did extremely well receiving, meeting and greeting the new pack members! She had one small incident today where a pup got in her face too much and she snapped a bit at him. Not totally unwarranted from her, but she received a slight correction from Mark at the intensity of her response. She did extremely well after that!
  • 6/25 - Excellent play and socialization today with the new pack members!
  • 6/26 - Kaley is out in the full pack with 9 other dogs and doing extremely well! She doesn't overly engage with anyone, but often just runs through and between pack members, engaging with her favorites. But she has greeted and interacted with all other members without issue!
  • 6/28 - More excellent work in the large pack. She has strong herding instincts which are influencing her style of play.
