KONA  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Kona's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 9/28 - Great walk today! Kona did a bit of pulling, but also heeled very well when reminded. He did extremely well with sitting on command and we worked some "Watch Me, Down and Stays" as well.
  • 10/1 - Excellent walk! Good Sit/Watch Me. Working on being calm to receive calm praise and attention.
  • 10/2 - Kona is doing well on walks. He needs some reminders but focuses his energy well with exercise.
  • 10/3 - Wonderful walk, once again! Kona is really eager to please in these situations.
  • 10/4 - Kona is still working with Rodeo and Drogo, exclusively. He is still giving off some inappropriate and non-trustworthy cues in the limited pack.
  • 10/5 - A ball of energy, as we all know! Working on not giving Kona attention until he greets you calmly first!
  • 10/8 - Another great walk! Kona got in trouble for being aggressive with Drogo earlier and was very eager to please afterward.
  • 10/10 - Kona got some good work in with Mark today. He was up in Rodeo's business quite a bit, so Mark worked "Leave-It" for quite a while with him.
  • 10/15 - Excellent walk today! Kona still did a bit of pulling at times, but perfect obedience in all other areas, especially with Sit/Stay/Leave-It and Let's Go!
  • 10/19 - Rocking the walks and obedience work. Still a lot of wild energy in transitions, but better focus when he knows he's working.
  • 10/22 - Walks just keep getting better! There were moments today where Kona actually had slack on the leash. He still needed reminders to heel at times, but they were less frequent. He was charged at a fence by a couple of dogs and while he wanted to run over, did a great job listening to "Leave-It". He stayed super calm upon arriving back at the office and went right into his crate to take a nap!
  • 10/23 - Kona's calmest walk yet! We passed some people that he wanted to say hi to and some smells that were hard to get him to leave alone, but we also passed barking dogs again and with a "Leave-It" he calmly watched them and walked on by. Great work!
  • 10/26 - Kona is doing much better with listening to Mark now. He's completely infatuated with Rodeo!
  • 10/29 - Kona had a great weekend socializing and listening! He is still very infatuated with Rodeo, but is starting to actually listen and take corrections from him when he steps out of line. Definitely progress!
  • 10/30 - Great walk today! Much less pulling and much more listening! He received pets and praise very calmly today as well.
  • 10/31 - Another excellent walk. He is doing better with obedience every day. Another day of receiving praise calmly. Played very well with Abby today and paid attention to her cues on when to break.
  • 11/1 - Kona got out in the full pack and handled himself well!
  • 11/2 - Kona had some more great full pack time today. He's learning how not to overly assert himself in a larger group. He also got some good pack walk time in with the boss man! Mark and Kona worked "Heel" and "Sit" thoroughly on the walk. (Group walks are always an added challenge on individual skills).
  • 11/5 - Kona got another walk in and did better heeling. He's doing well in the pack, though starting to try and be a little dominant with his friend Finn.
  • 11/6 - Kona had his best pack walk yet and did much better holding a heel with Mark. He's still a little much in Finn's business, but improved on that today as well.
  • 11/9 - Kona is doing fairly well with his obedience work but still struggles with a short attention span. His play in the pack has been more playful than pushy as we continue to work his social skills.
  • 11/12 - Kona did very well today both on his walk and in play! He is becoming more responsive to commands, especially when told "Leave-It". Every time he was told that in play today, he immediately broke away. He's also starting to pick up on social cues from other dogs, though he has a ways to go with that.
  • 11/13 - Great walk today! Minimal pulling. Another good job listening and playing in the pack as well.
  • 11/16 - Lots of new dogs coming in to the pack now that Thanksgiving is almost here. Kona is working hard to socialize without being overbearing.
  • 11/19 - Best walk yet! Kona only needed to be reminded to heel a handful of times and had an excellent heel when he was doing so. Sat on command and did well to ignore the dogs barking at him from fence lines.
  • --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 1/26/22 - Kona is settling in to the new surroundings, and is already eating like a champ! He is having a great time getting out to play with Abby, and is enjoying lots of cuddles and love from the trainers. He is displaying a bit of demand-barking in his crate (when other dogs are moving in and out or are fed before him), and we are working with him to correct that behavior and encourage self-soothing skills.
