Luna and Ginny  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Luna and Ginny's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 3/25 - The girls are adjusting to the new environment. They were definitely nervous at first. Ginny is adjusting faster and eager to receive pets and affection. Luna is still a bit skittish, but starting to sniff around us and allow a few pets before stepping away. As they adjust and start bonding a bit more, we'll be able to start working on their training needs. They are growling/barking at dogs who come near their crate, so they've only been able to get out and about by themselves at this point. As they begin to calm down in that area, we'll be able to get them out with Mark's dogs to start. Luna makes cute head tilts every time you look at her. So adorable! And Ginny gives great kisses. :)
  • 3/29 - The girls collectively worked both "Leave-It' and "Come"/Recall today and did an excellent job! We will continue to work these concepts to polish off the rough edges, but they seem to understand the idea already. Great work!
  • 4/1 - The girls got out in the run with Drogo over the weekend and did well. A big step up from growling and barking at any of the dogs who passed by their crate in the office last week!
  • 4/2 - The girls worked together again on recall and "Leave-It". Ginny definitely gets a bit more distracted, but she's doing very well! We'll continue to work and refine with additional challenges this week.
  • 4/3 - Luna and Ginny have made it out into the full pack and did very well! They even started to play a bit with everyone by this afternoon! They would have fun little 10 second bursts of play before feeling a little overwhelmed, but it was huge to see them interacting in play!
  • 4/5 - The girls are doing very well and it's such a joy to watch them grown and blossom, especially with their increase in socialization skills! Luna has been engaging in play with Mark's Cane Corso, Drogo. She still gets quickly overwhelmed in play, so it's just little bursts, but she is experimenting in playing with different dogs and it's awesome! Ginny hasn't engaged much in play, except directly with Luna, but she has been so good in being around the other dogs and allowing Luna to explore and play. Others have tried to play with Ginny and she basically has ignored their attempts to engage, but she hasn't been aggressive about it.
  • 4/8 - Luna and Ginny continue to do great work with their focus on recall and "Leave-It". Ginny can still be a little stubborn with Sit at times, pushing you to say the command a second or third time, but she definitely knows what she's supposed to do!
  • 4/9 - Ginny has now engage in play with someone other than Luna! Like Luna before, it was fairly short-lived, but full of joy! Ginny is struggling with a prey drive on her walks, targeting birds and especially squirrels.
  • 4/10 - Long line recall work was done today - Recall from distance, reinforcing Sit and stay as well. The girls did well. Ginny is definitely more stubborn than Luna and struggles with being separate from her, but they are both equally eager to please.
  • 4/14 - Ginny was sad to see her sister Luna leave, but adjusted to the change within a couple of hours. She is having a good time with the pack, socializing well, without any grumbling, sharing resources and continuing obedience work.
  • 4/16 - Ginny rocked the long line obedience and recall in the park today! She kept breaking her stay as she was anticipating the recall. That was her only flaw today. To challenge the recall in light of that, she was allowed to wander around and receive sporadic "Ginny, come" command. She came running and smiling every time. Half the time when recalled she would be told to sit and she would do so accordingly, the other half added an extra challenge with Down and she obeyed that happily as well!
  • 4/19 - Ginny continues to do well working her long line recall, wandering through the park and returning when called!
  • 4/22 - Ginny worked some basic obedience in the pack with Mark and the built in distractions of the other dogs and rocked it!
  • 4/23 - Another day of practice in the park and Ginny is rocking it, both with basic obedience skills and long line recall!
