Mia  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Mia's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 11/19 - Mia has adjusted to the new environment and is now integrating into the pack! She is out with the full pack and doing well, even attempting to engage in a bit of play. She had a great walk today. She does a bit of pulling, which we will work on while she is here. It also takes a few commands to get her to Sit/Stay, so we'll work on trying to get that to happen with the initial command. So far, we haven't had any issues with her jumping and her recall has been spot on, but that may change as she gets more comfortable with us and starts showing more of her personality. She's off to a great start though!
  • 11/20 - Mia is getting better with engaging in play! She had a good walk with pal Tiburon today. She did a bit of pulling, so we worked on that during the walk. She did well with Sit/Stay on command during walk, though is eager to break the stay with the slightest movement. Recall was excellent again today. She is very eager to please!
  • 11/26 - Mark worked a lot with Mia over the holiday weekend on her jumping and recall. She was very responsive today with her recall. She thought about jumping up on Jen once, but with a simple "uh-uh" and finger wag, she quickly changed her mind and sat to ask for pets instead!
  • 11/27 - We spent some more time working Mia's recall, as well as reinforcing Sit/Stay/Down/Stay - She is struggling a bit with Down/Stay, although she did get it a number of times. She does extremely well with Sit/Stay and knocked her recall ("Come") out of the park today! (See video).
  • 11/28 - We took Mia to the park today to work on recall with distractions and the long leash. The extra distance and distractions add a new challenge, but Mia did extremely well! I took a couple of videos. I posted one below and will email you the other!
  • 11/30 - Another great walk today along with reinforcing Mia's recall in the park with distractions. She did very well and is happy to come and receive praise!
  • 12/3 - More excellent recall work and fantastic walks! Mia is very responsive and eager to please. She did a great job today with her heel, Sit/Stay and Come/Sit!
  • 12/4 - Mia rocked her recall work in the park today! She is so smart that she knows by the second time that we are practicing recall and sometimes anticipates being called over and breaks her Stay, so she has to reset and try again, but she always nails the next Sit/Stay/Come! There were other dogs walking in the park today and she did an excellent job of holding her stay when they walked by and coming when called, even with that distraction.
  • 12/5 - More excellent recall work in the park with distractions! Mia is eager to please and happily comes your way when called, but still likes to start running past sometimes. However, she is extremely responsive to a stern reminder at those times: "Uh-uh, Mia, come to me" sort of thing. :) Such a good girl!
