Mona - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Mona's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 6/1 - Mona is nervous in her new environment, which is to be expected. However, she did an excellent job getting out in the run with Jen and even accepted some love and pets throughout the day!
  • 6/5 - Mona's been very nervous the last few days and has had an upset stomach. This afternoon, she finally got out in the run without a leash and wasn't looking for an escape route. She had some great cuddles with Jen and even engaged in a bit of play with her, trotting around the run, back and forth and coming in for pets and praise!
  • 6/9 - We were hoping to get Mona out with Rodeo and Drogo today, as she's been doing well in the office with the other dogs. However, earlier in the day, one of the dogs was wandering around as we were getting ready to take a couple of pups on a walk and Mona became reactive in her crate at the other dog. She received a verbal correction and immediately stopped. That part is good, but it meant that we weren't able to get her out with the boys today. Hopefully the verbal correction today will sink in and we can try again tomorrow.
  • 6/10 - Mona became reactive again at a different dog in the office near her crate today. She received a verbal correction and some spritz's from the squirt bottle. It's good that she's adapted to the environment and bonded with us enough to start showing her reactivity. It took her awhile to settle in. Due to her reactivity, she had solo time again during her outings. However, she had a blast playing ball and splashing in the pool. She made a fun game of it!
  • 6/14 - Mona showed reactivity with Drogo, Mark's Cane Corso, around her crate today, which garnered a correction from Mark. She is definitely seeing her crate as a resource to guard as evidenced by the fact that she hasn't shown that towards other dogs in their crates, when out in the office.
  • 6/17 - A new pup came into the office today and Mona expressed a lot of interest in the dog as she passed his crate to go outside today. Great sign!
  • 6/19 - A variety of different dogs have been near Mona's crate at different times over the past couple of days and Mona has hadn't any reactive outbursts to any of them. Great progress!
  • 6/21 - Mona got out with Drogo today and did an excellent job! She was a little timid at first, but by the end of the session, she was attempting to engage in a bit of play with him!
  • 6/22 - Mona got out with Drogo, Rodeo and pack mate Phyllis today and completely rocked it! She opened up and spent about a half an hour, off and on, trying to get everyone to play with her. It was an absolute joy to watch!
  • 6/23 - Mona got out with the full pack today! A group of 10 other dogs, not including Rodeo and Drogo, and she rocked it! She kept trying to get various members to engage in play with her. It was amazing!
  • 6/24 - Mona had a fantastic pack walk today with buddy Coup. We passed other dogs walking and worked "Leave-It" to which Mona easily followed. We even passed some dogs that charged their fence-line, barking, and a quick and firm "Leave-It" had Mona looking straight ahead and ignoring the other dogs, followed by tons of praise and affection. So proud of the girl!
