Owen  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Owen's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 8/22/21 - Owen is settling in to his new surroundings, and is already warming up to us. He is doing great on his training walks, and is not showing any reactivity. We are observing some reactive behaviors towards other dogs while in his crate, and are working on correcting that.
  • 8/27/21 - Owen has been working on his socialization, spending time on-leash with trainer dog Drogo, and is doing a great job building confidence. He is no longer snarling and showing teeth at us, which we have been working to correct. He has been having a few accidents in his crate and inside the house, and we are working on that as well.
  • 8/31/21 - Owen is continuing to build his confidence and socialization skills, having successful interactions with trainer dog Drogo! He is now letting both trainers handle and pet him near his hindquarters as well, which is great progress. We have observed his demand barking behaviors, now that he is settled in and gotten more comfortable, and are working with him on the "Quiet" command.
  • 9/2/21 - Owen is making progress by leaps and bounds, graduating to a larger pack! He was a little unsure at first, but quickly made friends with the other pups. He also allowed us to pick him up for the first time! We are not seeing any reactivity or aggression when being handled so far. We are continuing to work with him on the "quiet" command.
  • 9/6/21 - Owen has crossed another milestone, now also allowing Mark to pick him up and pet him on his hindquarters! He is showing no signs of reactivity or aggression at this point. He continues to go out with the Pack, and is slowly but surely overcoming his uneasiness and showing more confidence. We are continuing to work on correcting his demand barking in his crate, as well as his protest urination (which is still occurring occasionally when he is barking at other dogs coming in and out).
  • 9/8/21 - Owen continues to develop socially, both with the dogs and with humans! He made a new human friend, and showed no reactivity with being pet and handled. Also, we have now observed his aggression, when he had a severe reaction and tried to bite Mark while he was eating his food, and Mark offered him a chew toy in his crate. Mark believes this is resource guarding behavior, and we are working to correct this.
  • 9/19/21 - Owen is doing a great job with being calm and waiting his turn to be fed, as well as sitting and calming himself before we put his food down. He is still protest urinating from time to time, and Mark believes that this, as well as most of his barking, is in response to feeling overstimulated (the other dogs may be coming in or out, or barking). He is doing much better with the "quiet" command, and has not shown any reactions to being picked up or handled in the past couple of weeks. We have found that physical play or exercise, such as a walk or playing with the ball in the dog run, will really help calm him down when he is reactive. Also, when he gets overstimulated, a change of scenery and calming tone do a lot to help shift his energy.
