SAURON  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Sauron's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 7/7 - Sauron is adjusting to his new environment. He's had a couple of outbursts at dogs walking past his crate, but they are already showing signs of diminishing. He's still a little nervous with Jen, although will give her occasional kisses and allow some quick pets. He's infatuated with Mark and cries for him if he happens to be nearby but not in the immediate vicinity. So sweet!
  • 7/8 - Sauron is still occasionally lunging at dogs who are passing by his crate. It seems to be targeted more at the higher energy dogs.
  • 7/10 - Sauron continues to show signs that he's getting more comfortable. Today, he's been happy to go into the run with Jen and is allowing more pets and affection from her. He still lunges at times at passing dogs, but it is becoming less frequent. Today, he enjoyed some extra time with the kiddie pool.
  • 7/13 - Sauron opened up in the run with Jen today and they had a full on chase and play session! It was adorable. He continues to improve with his general reactivity towards others in the office.
  • 7/15 - Sauron got out with Mark's dogs, Rodeo and Drogo, today on leash, at first. He did very well with the meet and greets while on lead and was quickly released from the leash to wander and mingle freely. He didn't have any negative reactions with the boys!
  • 7/18 - Mark's nephew visited over the weekend. At first, in the office, Sauron behaved aggressively towards Mark's nephew, barking and lunging from his crate. Later, however, he got out in the run with him and was all love and wiggles.
  • 7/21 - Sauron got more off leash time in with Rodeo and Drogo today and did an excellent job!
  • 7/22 - Sauron had a rough walk today, displaying his reactivity issues quite a bit. We had a lot of yappy dogs, challenging him and he took a bit of a step backwards. However, after some corrections he regained composure and finished on a strong note. He took a pack walk with an office mate, in addition to the added exposure and did very well with that aspect of the walk.
  • 7/24 - Sauron still has some work and fine tuning to do with his walks, but he was much improved today. He listened to "Leave-It" more appropriately and didn't have any outbursts. He was still overly attentive to other dogs and barking, but he didn't do any lunging or barking, just focused whining.
  • 7/28 - Sauron made leaps and bounds with his progress today. He went on a pack walk with office mate Charlie (their first time being out together) and had his best walk today. He did much less pulling and was much more responsive to Mark's verbal commands to "Leave-It." When we returned, since the boys had done so well together on their pack walk, we allowed them to have some off leash time in the run together. They were very good about sharing space, without issues. Later in the day, we took Sauron out with the larger pack and he did incredibly well. He even engaged in some play!
  • 7/29 - Sauron had a slightly more challenging walk today. Jen took the lead and he tried to push the boundaries a bit more than with Mark. He did a bit more pulling and had some tough encounters. The first dog passed, across the street, Sauron noticed but did an excellent job of listening to "Leave-It" and ignoring. The next dogs we came across we tethered outside and barking ferociously. Sauron wanted to lunge at them and it took a few corrections for him to break his focus and listen. He did extremely well after that and has also been stellar out in the pack today.
  • 7/31 - More dogs have joined the pack and Sauron has welcomed them all and been an excellent pack mate! He had a good walk again today and while he is very interested in other dogs, he is listening much better to verbal commands to "Leave-It". We even passed within a block of an off leash dog today, which Sauron noticed, but promptly ignored! Stellar work.
