Sevi  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Sevi's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 1/26/22 - Sevi is settling in to his new surroundings, and is already beginning to warm up to us. Initially he was very reactive to the other dogs, especially when near his crate, and would respond to them with barking and lunging. We have been working with him on this behavior, and have already seen a significant improvement. We have also discovered his great love of the garden hose! He has been having a wonderful time playing with us in the training area. He did very well on his first couple of training walks, showing some nervousness but very responsive to instruction.
  • 2/2/22 - Sevi crossed a major milestone this week, working on his socialization skills with trainer dog Drogo! We started out on-leash for safety, to gauge his responses and readiness cues. Sevi initially responded to Drogo's presence with aggression, lunging and attempting to bite. But, he was very responsive to correction, and able to overcome his initial urge to react. He eventually allowed Drogo to approach, and even showed interest, approaching Drogo to sniff and say hello! We were even able to graduate to dropping the leash. Sevi did a great job learning to manage his reactions, and was able to learn that Drogo wasn't a threat, and the trainers would keep him safe. Great job, Sevi!
  • 2/9/22 - Sevi continues to work on his socialization skills with Drogo. He had a small setback this week, attempting to bite Drogo unprovoked, and with no warning signals to indicate the bite attempt was coming. We are working with him to correct this behavior, and build his confidence in Drogo's presence. He is doing a great job on his training walks, and is showing good responsiveness to correction and instruction on leash.
  • 2/17/22 - Sevi is showing significant progress in his leash walking skills! He is still experiencing initial reactivity when confronted with triggers, but is very responsive to correction, and able to de-escalate and continue the walk without a full-scale reaction. He was recently confronted by another dog lunging and barking at him on leash. Sevi did very well with responding to our verbal commands, and was able to walk right by the reactive dog. The other owner even commented on how well behaved Sevi was. Great work, Sevi!
