Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Benny's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 1/9/22 - Benny is settling in to his surroundings, and though he is a little nervous, he is beginning to warm up to us. He went on his first training walk today, now that we have built a rapport with him, and he did great! We will work on his leash pulling and reactivity in the coming days. He is also demand-barking in his crate (when other dogs are going out, or being fed, etc), and we are working with him on the "quiet" command.
  • 1/17/22 - Benny crossed a major milestone this week, having his first introduction with trainer dog Drogo! He was nervous at first, and had a couple of reactive moments, but was quick to settle with correction. He did a good job of showing interest, but wasn't yet ready to engage in play. We will continue these interactions to build his confidence in the coming days. He is also still doing a fair bit of demand barking in his crate, and we are continuing to reinforce "quiet" and self-soothing skills.
  • 1/22/22 - Benny has been working hard on his training walks, and is showing significant improvement with his reactivity. He still experiences initial triggers, but they are greatly reduced, and he is responding very well to verbal corrections. He is still reluctant to run and play with Drogo in his socialization sessions, but has become much more comfortable in this setting, and his confidence is continuing to increase. We are still seeing the demand barking in his crate, but he is showing an increased ability to self-manage and quiet himself. Excellent progress, Benny!
  • 1/26/22 - Benny is doing a great job on his obedience training, and absolutely loves the ball! We have been incorporating this into his obedience and impulse-control training, as well as confidence building. While he still shows some nervous and reactive behaviors, he has become much better at managing these, and is very responsive to guidance.
  • 8/3/22: Benny is having a great time being back in the pack and playing with his buddy Drogo!
