Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Blaze's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 6/24 - Blaze is doing well with adjusting to the new environment and has already gotten out with the full pack, working his socialization skills!
  • 6/25 - Blaze worked on some more socialization today and started engaging in play with a few of the pack members. Manni, the lab, is very vocal in play, so that worried him at first, but after a while, he realized she was okay.
  • 6/26 - Blaze is out in the full pack, with 9 other dogs and doing incredibly well. He really had a great time romping around and engaging with Oliver, one of the more playful members of the pack!
  • 6/28 - Another excellent day of play and general socialization! Blaze is still jumping up at times, but we've been working him hard on the concept of asking for attention through sitting and he's starting to show signs of getting it. He gets a verbal correction when jumping and now automatically sits as he remembers what he's supposed to do. It's super cute.
  • 7/1 - Blaze is definitely getting very comfortable with the pack and more rambunctious. He can be a little overzealous in play and lose focus in listening to the trainer, so we are working on his listening with distractions so he will disengage when his intensity of play ramps up too much for some dogs.
  • 7/5 - We continued to work on listening with distractions today, as well as sitting when you want attention, instead of jumping. We still have work to do, but he's definitely showing improvement!
  • 7/9 - Blaze is doing very well in his interactions. He definitely still has puppy brain and needs a stern reminder to pay attention to the signals that some dogs are giving him about not wanting to play, but he's playing extremely well with the pups who do want to engage. He is still doing a bit of jumping, but knows immediately that he messed up and will quickly sit to ask for attention instead with the command "off." He's doing well with sitting on command too.
  • 7/12 - Blaze continues to improve with his dog interactions and listening to commands, even while distracted by fellow pups. He still has a lot of puppy energy, but knows the proper response when given appropriate commands.
