Coup  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Coup's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 6/1 - Coup is nervous in his new environment, which is to be expected. However, he did an excellent job getting out in the run with Jen and even accepted some love and pets throughout the day!
  • 6/4 - Coup got out with a couple of other pack members, Stella and Coco today. He was instantly smitten with Stella and eagerly engage in play with her. He's still a little gun shy at times with receiving attention from the trainers.
  • 6/5 - Coup got out with a couple more pack members, Neville and Albus. He was nervous at first, but eventually got curious and started to engage in play with Albus, the blue heeler. He has a fascinating blend between being driven by testosterone at times and being a frightened pup. We will continue to work with him to build his confidence, along with appropriate boundaries and interactions.
  • 6/9 - Coup got out with even more pups in today's pack and did a great job of listening to commands to give new dogs space when needed. His confidence and listening skills continue to improve!
  • 6/13 - Another new pack member and Coup continues to do well in integrating with new friends. He is still barking when anyone comes in the office and is somewhat more responsive, but still has a ways to go. Overall, his listening skills are showing improvement, but aren't where we want them to be yet.
  • 6/16 - We've seen a lot of improvement with various skills of Coup's but he still has a lot of work to do, especially with things like barking at the door, keys, etc. We work daily on his barking and whining, using different techniques and working to engrain the "Quiet" command. He had a great walk today. He did a bit of pulling at first, but got the rhythm of the walk about a quarter of the way in and only needed simple verbal reminders to heel. He did really well with "Leave-It" as well, when getting distracted by various things on his walks. We're very pleased with the progress he's making in that area and will continue to reinforce these concepts.
  • 6/19 - A number of new friends have joined the pack over the past few days and Coup has done an excellent job of welcoming them in and engaging them in play. He's doing better at listening while distracted and although he's still barking initially at things in the office, he's getting better at listening to "Quiet" when he's told, although you still have to be fairly stern/or serious toned in the command to get the point across.
  • 6/23 - More members have joined the pack and Coup is doing an excellent job of welcoming them in and getting them to engage!
  • 6/24 - Coup had a good walk on harness with Mark today. He was a little wild at first on the harness versus the prong, but started to get the hang of things towards the latter half of the walk. He was pretty proud of himself by the end!
  • 6/29 - Coup's neck injury is healing up nicely! He is his crazy, energetic self (which hadn't really changed much anyway).
  • 6/30 - Another good walk with Mark today on the harness. He's still struggling a bit more with the harness over the prong, but he definitely showed improvement today!
  • 7/1 - Coup had his best walk yet! He was much more attentive and had moments of perfect heeling. He's still got some work to do, but he showed major improvement today!
  • 7/6 - Coup is getting better and better at heeling during walks and listening to commands! Today, he finally got back out on the prong collar and did an excellent job of heeling. We gave him a bit more leash during the walks as an extra challenge and he did well. Not 100%, but much, much improved!
  • 7/7 - Coup is showing improvement in his listening skills while distracted by playmates. Again, he's not 100% but has come a long way in one of the hardest areas for dogs - listening with distractions.
  • 7/8 - Coup had a stellar walk today. He's improved so much! He only needed an occasional reminder to heel and just the vocal command got his attention and he stepped back in line. So wonderful!
  • 7/10 - We've reached a point with Coup where he is ready to go home for the time being. He still has some things to work on, but Mark believes that part of the walls we are hitting with him have to do with the high levels of testosterone he still has from being un-neutered. He's shown a lot of improvement and we are thrilled with his progress in certain areas. He's going to be so happy to see his loving parents and vice versa! He's grown a lot during his time here!
