Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Cowboy's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 6/3 - Cowboy is still a little nervous, but showing signs of settling in other areas. He's eating his food and going to the bathroom normally, which is ahead of the curve there! He got out in the run with Jen this morning and was very comfortable with her, even snuggling up to get some cuddles and giving tail wags!
  • 6/5 - Cowboy is getting more comfortable. He had a great time out in the run with Jen today and even engaged in a bit of play in a game of chase with Jen!
  • 6/9 - Cowboy got out into the big pack today and totally rocked it! He made lots of new friends, grew in his confidence throughout his time with the pups and even flirted with the concept of play with a couple of them!
  • 6/13 - Another member joined the pack and Cowboy did well with the integration. His confidence grows daily and he started exploring play a lot more this weekend!
  • 6/16 - Cowboy is getting into the pack play more and more. He's developed a fondness for Coup, the yellow lab and enjoys trying to herd him in play. Super cute! He's sharing water bowls with the pack, listening to directions even in play and following obedience commands with distractions!
  • 6/17 - A new pup joined the pack today and Cowboy didn't miss a beat in being proper with introductions and attempting to engage in a bit of play. The other pup was pretty nervous, so it took a while and Cowboy was extremely patient. Eventually they got some slight play going. He's learning how to adapt his play style to other dogs and doing well so far. So proud!
  • 6/19 - More friends have joined the pack, a group of 7 - 9 dogs now and Cowboy has welcomed them in with play. He can be a bit overbearing/dominant in his play now, as his confidence has grown and has received some verbal corrections to settle, which he does immediately.
  • 6/23 - Two new members have joined the pack and Cowboy hasn't hesitated to welcome them in and try to get them to play!
  • 6/24 - Cowboy has integrated into the pack very well and has now become a pack helper, trying to reinforce any commands Mark or Jen gives. He's really embracing his cattle dog nature in that aspect and is a super sweet boy whose confidence has grown tremendously. We absolutely adore him!
  • 6/29 - Cowboy is quite the social butterfly and has grown immensely in his confidence. We are going to miss the sweet boy.
  • 6/30 - Cowboy had a good walk today, although he showed a bit of over-excitability with a dog barking at a fence-line. This is one of the hardest areas for most dogs, however. He received a quick correction for not listening to "Leave-It" and lunging towards the other dog. A few blocks later, he perked up at another dog barking from inside its house and quickly remembered his correction and refocused on his walk. Smart boy!
