Dutch - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Dutch's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 7/7 - Dutch is settling in fairly well as far as his comfort with Mark and Jen go. He came into the office with a lot of intense reactivity to the other dogs last night, but is doing much better today being in a shared space with them.
  • 7/8 - Dutch is doing much better today with dogs that sniff near his crate or pass by. He still gets a little tense, but he hasn't been reactive to their presence today.
  • 7/10 - Another few days where Dutch has displayed any reactivity while passing other dogs or having them pass him with the crates. Good progress and hopefully soon he'll be able to graduate into the next stage of attempting interaction with Mark's dogs. He's been super affectionate with Mark and Jen!
  • 7/12 - Dutch was giving his neighbor some sass over the weekend, here and there, and Mark finally realized it was because he was jealous of his bunk mates blanket! Clever little Dutch managed to slowly steal his friend's blanket over time!
  • 7/14 - Dutch got out on leash today with Mark's dogs, Rodeo and Drogo. He was very nervous at first, but settled in well and trusted that Mark and Jen would keep him safe. He took his time saying hello and mingling in general, but didn't have any negative outbursts towards the boys in the run. Great work!
  • 7/20 - Dutch graduated to being off leash with Mark's dogs and is doing very well so far!
  • 7/21 - Another excellent day of off leash time with Rodeo and Drogo! Dutch even experimented in trying to play a bit with Rodeo! Huge progress today. Dutch even felt comfortable enough with the boys to lie down and sun bathe for a bit!
  • 7/24 - Dutch has finally gotten comfortable enough to attempt to play with Mark's dogs, Rodeo and Drogo. He still has a ways to go in his comfort level with them, as he gets a bit overwhelmed and scared after a few minutes and disengages. However, we are progressing in the right direction!
  • 7/27 - Dutch continues to work with the boys and explore play, growing in confidence as he does so!
  • 7/28 - More time with Rodeo and Drogo. Dutch is showing more maturity in his interactions, although he still tries to be overly dominant at times. We are hoping to get that a bit more under control and then we will have more confidence in getting him out with the larger pack!
  • 7/29 - Dutch has become a socialite in the office, wanting to visit all of the other dogs when he is out. Another good sign that he's getting ready to interact with some of the other pack members out in the run, beyond Rodeo and Drogo!
  • 7/31 - Dutch it out in the big pack and rocking it! He still needs some close supervision as he can attempt to be dominant in play, but otherwise, he's doing a fantastic job with everyone. He took a pack walk with buddy Sauron today and did really well. He did some slight pulling, which is common to see if pack walks. Overall, excellent progress!
  • 8/5 - New dogs have joined the pack and again Dutch continues to do well with welcoming them in and interacting appropriately!
  • 8/10 - Dutch continues to rock his pack work, although he definitely misses some of his old friends. He got to enjoy seeing and working with his parents today as well!
  • 8/12 - Dutch continues to do well in the pack, behaving very appropriately with various members. He got to work with his parents again today and even got some time in working with Gus.
  • 8/14 - The pack has grown. Dutch is doing well interacting with the new pack mates, although he is trying to be overly dominant with a number of them and has received a few corrections for trying to mount other dogs.
  • 8/17 - Dutch had a fantastic pack walk today with one of his mates, Mose. He did a bit of pulling, which you often find more of with pack walks (not wanting to be left behind), but other than that, was a perfect gentleman!
  • -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 9/11/21 - Dutch is already working on his social skills with trainer dog Drogo!  He had a great time reuniting with his old friend, and was responsive to correction when needed. He is still settling in to his new surroundings, and showing some nervousness towards the other dogs, but has not been reactive so far.
