Jackson - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Jackson's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 8/26 - Jackson still has done the occasional growl at some of the dogs, but is showing a bit more of his happy self now. He had a good time playing with the water out in the training run today.
  • 8/25/20 - Jackson has been very nervous/mopey and growling at dogs that come near to sniff at him through the crate.
  • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 1/4 - Jackson is doing well interacting with Rodeo and Drogo. He's getting ready to start meeting new members of the pack!
  • 1/7 - Jackson got out and interacted with pack members, Nollie and Tiburon and did a great job!
  • 1/8 - Jackson had a great walk today and showed off his ability to learn quickly. There was a dog barking across the street, from the fenced yard. Jackson got all worked up and got corrected. He immediately stopped and started checking in to make sure he was doing okay. Confidence built and attention high, we crossed the street an walked past the yapping dog. Jackson completely ignored him and focused on walking. Next house had some aggressively barking dogs as well, Jackson thought about getting worked up, but a firm "Leave-It" and he put distance between himself and the others and kept walking. Great work!
  • 1/9 - Jackson made some new friends in the pack with Dmitri and Moses!
  • 1/10 - Jackson is starting to actively engage in play with a number of our pack members. Great work!
  • 1/11 - Jackson is doing a great job out on walks now with listening to "Leave-It". He still has the instinct to get worked up passing other dogs, but is very responsive to the command. Excellent progress there.
  • 1/14 - Jackson is doing an excellent job socializing with the pack and engaging in appropriate play!
  • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 3/29 - Jackson did pretty well working his Down/Stay with a lure/treat. Stay is still a little spotty. He's increasing in duration, but still breaking a little sooner than we would like to see. He was pushed hard with Leave-It, with a treat in front of his nose. He definitely knows the phrase though, he got into food in the office and as soon as he heard "Leave-It" he walked away immediately. Good stuff. His recall was great while here. Shake is still a work in progress. He started to lift his foot once, so he seems to be starting to connect the dots. He had no problem actually shaking or having his paw held/moved while in hand.
  • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 7/1 - Jackson is doing well! He hasn't had any issues with his stomach. He has been out in the big pack, with 8 other dogs. He generally likes to keep to himself in the pack as he doesn't like to feel overwhelmed. He has curled his lips a couple of times in situations where he felt too much pressure and received verbal corrections.
  • 7/2 - Jackson snapped at a puppy who was overly rambunctious around him while lying down in the run today. He did receive a correction for that, as we never want to see that behavior, however it wasn't entirely uncalled for as the puppy was in his face while he was trying to lie down and relax. (Learning experience for both of them)!
  • 7/5 - Jackson was a little snappy again today with Harley, the doodle who seemed really excited at the idea of playing with someone his own size. Jackson was eager to run and play in the pack today, but definitely wanted to do it without interaction from the others. He seemed more interested in running through and around them.
  • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 8/5 - Jackson nipped at the Beagle puppy that went to sniff at him, as Jackson was lying down. Jackson got a small correction for nipping and the puppy learned an important social lesson, to let "sleeping" dogs lie. Other than that, he's done well in the pack, although he is mostly keeping to himself. Occasionally, he will trot through the pack, but not wanting to engage anyone.
  • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 8/5/22: Jackson is doing great in the pack, although he's much more interested in playing in the water than interacting with the dogs! 😆
