Lucas Skywalker  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Lucas Skywalker's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 6/22 - Lucas went right into the crate shortly after arriving without any issues at all. He's hanging out next to Jen's desk and while he is nervous to be in a new space with new dogs and people, he's doing well and is super interested in anything Jen is doing at any given moment. He allowed us to pet him and give him lots of affection when he arrived. It will take a few days for him to adjust, but he's doing great so far!
  • 6/23 - Lucas is warming up fairly quickly! He's still a little light on the eating, but is going to the bathroom without issue. He's doing so well adjusting, that we added him into the full pack today and he rocked it! He did get a little bossy in watching some other dogs engage in play, so we started working "Quiet" and "Leave-It" with him, as the situation prompted.
  • 6/24 - Lucas is definitely getting more comfortable now and has started barking in the office, so we are now having the opportunity to work on "Quiet" while inside as well. He's warming up to the pack a little more and even attempted to engage in play with one of the smaller dogs for a brief second today!
  • 6/27 - Lucas is really starting to open up socially in the pack, which is a great sign and testament to his comfort level!
  • 6/29 - Lucas had a good walk today. He worked on "Heel" and "Leave-It" and is a very smart boy, catching on quickly to what is being expected of him. He did do some lunging at dogs who were barking at their fence-lines at him. He received a correction each time and on the second fence line, which was a long line, he did extremely well not to try and re-engage with the barking dogs.
  • 6/30 - A great walk today. Lucas is still doing some slight pulling, but only to the extent of the leash and prong collar, nothing excessive. We are working with him to strengthen those heeling skills, along with "Leave-It" and "Let's Go" during those walks. He's showing his excitability to go for walks and we are working his "Quiet" and making him settle before rewarding him with his leash and walk. He is working to hold his sit before being allowed to head out.
  • 7/1 - Lucas is still struggling with excitability around walk times. We haven't had any nipping, but he is still barking and jumping. We continue to work this. He's definitely improving on listening to commands during walks though.
  • 7/20 - Lucas continues to show some territorial behavior around his crate, with a couple of outbursts thus far. We continue to work on reassuring him that such behavior is not necessary, that he is safe, loved and taken care of.
  • 7/21 - Lucas has been out in the run with Mark's dogs, Rodeo and Drogo, and is behaving very appropriately with them: now showing any reactivity.
  • 7/22 - We are still seeing a lot of territorial behavior and resource guarding with Lucas around his crate and food. The same type of stuff that caused the last fight. He had another aggressive outburst this morning at a dog in the next crate over during feeding time. Otherwise, he's doing well. Mark has even had him out with a couple of pack mates, Luna, Charlie, Rodeo, and Drogo the last few days and he's been his happy go lucky self, minding manners when he has nothing to be territorial over.
  • 7/24 - Lucas is doing well out in the pack and hasn't had any outbursts around his crate or food in a couple of days. He hasn't really wanted to play with the larger dogs in the pack, but has still been pleasant in sharing space with them. He even shared a water bowl, briefly, with a pack mate today.
  • 7/27 - Lucas continues to do well with his pack mates. He is handling them in his space much better and hasn't had any negative reactions. If they are bothering him too much, he's now opting to avoid them and walk away. Excellent choice! He's also comfortable enough to lay down and allow them to come up and sniff at him!
  • 7/28 - A new dog joined the pack today and Lucas did a good job of sharing the space with him. He was a little nervous with the new guy's energy, but did an excellent job listening to trainer commands and trusting us to keep him safe!
  • 7/31 - The pack has grown again and while Lucas still isn't engaging in play, he's calm and comfortably with everyone. He's doing lots of smiling and happily trotting around with the pack. He's been great at listening to various commands when he starts to display a bit of possessiveness, especially with Jen and hasn't shown any resource guarding around his crate in quite a while.
