Luna - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Luna's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 6/29 - Luna is adjusting better to the new environment. Her first day, she spent most of the day barking and whining due to the stress of the new people, dogs and space. As of today, she is no longer barking at dogs passing her crate, nor is she excessively vocal in the office. She's happy to get love and pets from Mark and Jen as well. Such a love!
  • 6/30 - Luna had a couple of major outbursts at dogs near her crate today. One was at the dog next to her over some food she hadn't finished eating yet. Later in the day, she lost it on a dog who was getting leashed up near her for a walk. She received verbal corrections and some sprays from the squirt bottle both times.
  • 7/1 - Luna has still been vocal at times today, but no outbursts at dogs around her crate. Progress! We even had a new dog come in and while she had something to say about it, she wasn't barking, lunging or showing reactivity. She also had a blast playing with the jolly ball today!
  • 7/3 - Luna and her next door neighbor, Dakine, went at each other again in their crates randomly today. So, we moved Dakine and gave Luna a bit more space. She's right by the door to the office, so she gets passed regularly by dogs going in and out and hasn't had an issue with them. We are going to put someone else next to her and see how she does.
  • 7/6 - Luna has a new bunk mate, Zeus, who also has dog aggression. So far, they haven't had any issues with one another and Luna hasn't had attitude to anyone passing by her crate over the weekend.
  • 7/7 - Mark spoke on the phone with Sarah regarding Luna. So far, she continues to do well with her new bunk mate and dogs passing by these past few days. Mark is growing in confidence that she will be ready to get out with his boys to start working the next tier of socialization, hopefully this week!
  • 7/8 - Luna had another great day in the office, where she didn't show any reactivity at other dogs passing by, unlike a number of others that she shares space with. She's also listening much better to "Quiet" and hasn't been vocal in the office, just occasionally in her excitement outside.
  • 7/10 - Luna is growing in her confidence. She's starting to explore the office more when out of her crate and is showing some curiosity around the other dogs. This is a huge step forward! She continues to stay calm in her crate, regardless of who comes to say hi, hasn't had any outbursts over food lately, has been super quiet, although still her happy, excitable self and has really started to enjoy her crate. Just a simple tap on the crate and she eagerly hops back in and lays down. She's such a wonderful girl!
  • 7/12 - Luna got out with Mark's dogs, Rodeo and Drogo, this weekend. She started out on leash and did so well, that Mark quickly transitioned her off leash. She was nervous at times with them, but over the course of the weekend, she got more comfortable. She even attempted to engage in play a couple of times, but it didn't last long as she freaked herself out. Great steps forward!
  • 7/14 - Luna is still doing pretty well with Mark's dogs. We added an extra challenge of throwing Jen into the mix today and she did get a bit possessive around Jen, snapping once at Drogo. She received a quick correction from the hose and after that, did not display any further possessive behavior.
  • 7/15 - Luna had an excellent pack walk today with another aggressive dog, Nona. The girls didn't interact much, except the occasional sniff, but did an excellent job on their walk and somewhat shared space.
  • 7/18 - Luna continues to do well and build confidence in her interactions with Rodeo and Drogo. She's been moved around in the office as well, placing her next to other dogs and she hasn't shown any reactivity to any of them!
  • 7/21 - Luna is doing a great job with Mark's dogs in the run and with her pack-mates in the office. She did get vocal with a few dogs in the office today when they came around her crate, but it was more envy that they were getting out and she wasn't out in the run with them, as opposed to her initial aggressive response with everyone.
  • 7/22 - Luna has gotten out now with pack mates Lucas and Charlie and is beginning to explore play with them!
  • 7/24 - Luna continues to build confidence in the larger pack and keeps flirting with the idea of playing with various members. It's so great to see her open up!
  • 7/27 - Luna is doing a good job of paying attention to the pack social cues. She keeps attempting to play with the smaller dog, Lucas, but he's unsure of her size and exuberance and gets a bit unnerved by her. She is now recognizing that and backing off. Excellent work!
  • 7/28 - A new dog joined the pack today, another aggressive dog that has graduated, and Luna did an incredible job of getting him to feel comfortable. They even started playing a bit! Luna was a little overbearing in her play at times, as she's still trying to figure that out. A lot of the other dogs haven't wanted to play with her, so we are super excited at this development, so she can start better developing her play skills!
  • 7/29 - Luna had a fantastic walk today. She did a slight amount of pulling but was very responsive to various commands, such as "heel"; "Leave-It"; "Come" and "Let's Go." She is rocking it in the pack now and is really showing a maturity with recognizing various social cues from other dogs. She even had one try to be dominant in play today, which was quickly addressed (part of his training challenges) and she took it in stride without any negative response!
  • 7/31 - More dogs have joined the pack and Luna seems to be having the time of her life! She's even found a couple to really engage in play with her and she is doing a much better job at reading cues and knowing boundaries. So proud!
