Milo  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Milo's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 7/23 - Milo has been out with Rodeo and Drogo again without any issue. He even touched noses with Drogo at one point. Great work!
  • 7/22 - Milo is such a happy boy these days! He's totally excited to see everyone and has the cutest little but wiggle, happy dance!
  • 7/20 - Milo is doing very well. He was really happy to see everyone. Pretty darn cute.
  • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 4/2 - Milo is still nervous, but starting to settle a bit. He definitely does not like his head and neck area touched right now, but has warmed up to Mark and was seeking some butt pets and leaning into Mark this weekend. He barked and growled at me as soon as I came into the office, but is afraid of the squirt bottle, so a couple of squirts and a firm "that's a no/quiet" got him to stop. When I fed him shortly thereafter, I got him to sit for me and had no issue with feeding time. About half an hour ago, I approached his crate and got him to calmly take some treats from me without any further attitude. He's slow to warm, but you can tell that he really wants to be a good boy. I have a feeling we are going to fall madly in love with your boy as he starts relaxing, trusting and opening up. Milo was nervous out in the run with me today, but Mark was able to stop by briefly in between appointments to help him be more comfortable. Milo even came up and allowed me to give him a few butt pets with the rear end lean! He did well when I was sitting, but was more nervous if I stood up or moved around in the run.
  • 4/3 - Milo is slowly adjusting to the new environment and routines. He is comfortable and bonding well with Mark. He is still showing aggression signs with people - He has done well with me so far today, but was barking, growling and lunging with Mark's wife both in the office and outside in the run when she was on the porch. He is definitely showing aggression with other dogs still - Mark's dog, Drogo, was near his crate this morning and Milo was intensely barking, growling and lunging at Drogo. Milo got out in the run with Jen this afternoon (no Mark) and did extremely well. There were no issues! He actively sought butt pets and even tried to play a little!
  • 4/5 - Milo has been playing around a bit with Mark and finally decided Jen was cool enough to play with a bit as well!
  • 4/8 - A dog ran up to Milo's crate today and was barking at him. Milo completely ignored her and gave zero reaction or response!
  • 4/9 - Milo is allowing Jen to give him some head pets now!
  • 4/10 - Milo is still having some random outbursts towards random pack members near his crate, but he got out on leash with Rodeo and Drogo today. He had one instant that he aggressively snapped at Drogo and received a correction. He was very reserved after that and allowed the dogs to be near him. Baby steps, but a good start overall towards being introduced to the smaller pack.
  • 4/15 - Things are moving slowly. I have been able to get Milo out with my dogs, but he immediately goes into attack mode if they get too close for too long. The good news is that I am able to stop him fairly quickly, and he responds well to me. I will be continuing this on leash until he, hopefully, stops when on leash.
I am hoping to be at a point this week where I can take that leap of faith and get him off leash with my boys. If so, progress should begin to pick up pace. That is our goal. Unfortunately he still reacts to the other dogs just simply walking past them in their crates.
  • 4/17 - Milo got out with Rodeo and Drogo, off leash, and did extremely well! He had zero aggression issues with the boys and was so proud of himself!
  • 4/18 - We have had some big improvements the last couple of days. I have finally been able to get him off leash with my guys with no aggression!! This has been a slow process, but I am hopeful that things will pick up as he continues to realize he is safe, and also that he cannot go into attack mode.
  • 4/22 - Milo is slowly getting better around people and dogs, but slowly is the key word. He has taken a long time to really come out of his shell and play with Mark and Jen. He is still very guarded around Mark's dogs. We know there is this happy go lucky goofball in there, it's just taking a lot of layer peeling to get to him. Understandable when considering the fights he has been in with your other boy.
  • 4/23 - We have been watching Milo open up to us more and more. He is so sweet and playful with Mark and Jen now and it is so heartwarming to see. He is still tentative with Mark's dogs, but doing well. We would love to see him get a bit more comfortable with them. Play is always such a good indicator of comfort level and progress, so we always hope to reach that level with our clients.
  • 4/24 - A new (calm) member of the pack was introduced to Milo today and he did extremely well! Amica allowed Milo to smell her calmly and be in her general vicinity without overly engaging, which allowed Milo to feel calm and comfortable with an extra dog in the mix. Excellent job all around!
  • 4/26 - Milo did well on his walk today. He grumbled a bit with some other dogs in passing and was required to sit calmly and wait for permission to continue.
  • 4/29 - Another walk and Milo did much better! He trusted his pack leader much more and only got frustrated slightly by some dogs that charged the fence to bark at him. Way to go buddy!
  • 5/3 - Excellent walk today! We passed other dogs across the street with no issue, just a preemptive "Leave-It" reminder. A skateboarder came up behind us, on the street and it worried Milo slightly, but a firm "Leave-It" and he trusted the situation. He looked up after the skateboarder passed and received lots of praise for a job well done! Upon returning from the walk, a few dogs were in the yard on the other side of the fence. One ran up and grumbled at Milo. A quick "Leave-It" and Milo calmly stood there without reaction. He showed curiosity in the other dogs without negative reaction. He also calmly observed Mark's nephew on the other side of the fence without issue. Excellent work!
  • 7/9/21 - Milo's been great so far on all his walks and hasn’t been pulling or reacting to other dogs. We’re working on strengthening his obedience skills as well.
