Momo  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Momo's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 3/6 - Momo is adjusting, slowly. Momo attempted to bite Mark a couple of times yesterday, when reaching into the crate. It's a lot of change to take in, poor guy. However, Mark said they rounded the corner this morning, it seems, as he was able to pick him up, hold him, give him snuggles and Momo even gave him kisses. He's definitely still nervous, but it sounds like he's starting to realize that he's safe. Once he gets a little more comfortable, the real work can begin.
We had him bunked next to an Italian Greyhound/Whippet, who has some excessive whining at times, and Momo was definitely not pleased with that situation. So, for now, he's been moved away from the other guy to give him a bit more space to adjust, before we challenge him again by putting him next to another dog. He calmly and gladly accepted pets from Jen this morning. This afternoon, Momo and Jen got a little play time in, running around the run.
  • 3/9 - Momo is still growling, lunging and barking at various dogs in the office. He responds quickly to mild correction, but will push the boundaries again after a couple of minutes. Consistency is key here. He's doing much better with Mark and Jen. He's out off leash in the run and will play, come to receive pets and come back into the office when called.
  • 3/11 - Momo is doing well, bonding with Mark and Jen. He soaks up the snuggles whenever he can get them! He is still showing overexcitement with dogs in the office, but is starting to show signs of a potential desire to play as well. Mark hopes to see more of this and work these interactions in the run with his boys! We got out with Rodeo and Drogo this afternoon and Momo did pretty well. We saw a lot of great things. He had a few moments where he was overwhelmed and was a bit snappy, but was quickly and easily corrected. Overall an excellent job with the boys. Now to build his confidence with them! We are super proud of the work he put in today. Absolutely stellar!!!
  • 3/14 - Momo is doing well! Just had him out in the snow and he was like, "what the....?" He still thinks he's the toughest guy on the block, but he is getting better at stopping naughty behavior on command alone, though it takes a couple for him to completely disengage. Mark is in love with him, and he with Mark. They often will have a little love fest in Mark's arms after doing their work as a reward and he really looks forward to it.
  • 3/16 - Momo got out and did some more work with Rodeo today. He had a couple of moments where he was overwhelmed and nervous and his instinct is to snap. Some stern verbal corrections and he will disengage. We will continue to work on desensitizing and building up his confidence with Rodeo and Drogo and hopefully we can get him into the bigger pack for his next challenge.
  • 3/17 - Momo continues to work with Rodeo and Drogo. He is especially drawn to Rodeo and is showing signs of wanting to play with him, but he freaks himself out a bit and then gets a little snappy. We continue to work on the exposure and shaping his socialization to encourage him in appropriate reactions and dissuade his overstimulated responses.
  • 3/20 - Momo got out and did some work with Drogo, he is exploring play, but still struggling a bit and gets a little overbearing and snappy when he feels overwhelmed. He received a few verbal corrections and a squirt from the hose, but overall did very well. We brought out Loki, another pack member and he didn't snap at Loki at all. Excellent work there and we will continue to build!
  • 3/23 - Momo made it out into the larger pack this weekend and is doing well! He still gets a bit overwhelmed at times, especially with more dogs showing interest in him at once, however, he is also flirting with the concept of play with some of his new, soon to be, friends!
  • 3/24 - A new friend joined the pack and Momo has done a good job with her incorporation. He's still flirting with play and engaged in a bit today at times, but quickly scared himself and disengaged. The only time he got snappy today was when a bigger dog didn't see him and accidentally ran into him. Overall, excellent work! He was out with 6 other dogs today and is getting braver about being around the action and not hugging the outskirts!
  • 3/29 - Momo is doing well. He has been interacting with everyone very nicely and when he gets too wound up he backs off with a sharp warning command, or sound now. He can still go into a bit of naughty behavior during excited play other dogs engage in. He is still learning how to play without becoming too bossy and unpleasant, but is making progress. It's been quite the learning experience for him.
