Perry  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Perry's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 2/18 - Perry was out with the pack yesterday and was fairly nervous. He got out again later this afternoon and started to engage in play, warming up fairly quickly to his new environment!
  • 2/19 - Perry did well on his walk. He did a bit of pulling at first, but a quarter of the way through, settled into the rhythm and had a nice heel. He was very obstinate about sitting at intersections on command however.
  • 2/20 - Another excellent walk from Mr. Perry. We worked some basic obedience with Sit/Stay today. Perry is very stubborn with the sitting, but once he decides to, he holds an excellent stay. We will continue to work this as we need this foundation to be strong in order to have a base for recall work.
  • 2/22 - Perry went on a pack walk with buddy Skye and did an excellent job! Perry practiced basic obedience in the run and is still very stubborn in wanting to sit. He holds his stay nicely and did a good job on his recall work today!
  • 2/25 - Perry had another great walk and more obedience and recall work. His new friend Skye finally opened up and he got some good play time in with her today!
  • 3/1 - The pack has increased and Perry is having a blast making friends! He is still stubborn with "Sit" but is at roughly 90% on 6ft leash recall. We'll be moving up to long line recall this coming week!
  • 3/4 - Perry did SO much better with "Sit" today! It's still not perfect, but a huge improvement. He's treat motivated, so we've been using that as a lure. Without the treats, he was sitting with a stern command on the 2nd or 3rd time almost every time. With the treats, he sits almost every time on the first time. We moved up to the long line, as he was doing excellent work with the 6ft leash recall. The extra distance definitely made for more of a challenge. He broke his "Stay" much more frequently and would have to be guided back and told to sit again. We did have a few good runs though and will continue to work it!
  • 3/6 - Perry is being exceptionally stubborn in his work with Mark, but does better with Jen. While "Sit" responsiveness seems to have increased, "Stay" seems to have decreased, especially with more distance added. Will continue to work this.
  • 3/8 - Perry did very well again in his recall and obedience work with Jen today. You can tell that he understands the concepts, but can just be stubborn and not want to listen. It wasn't perfect, but he had his highest rates of success with Sit/Stay and Come today. He even came when called with the distraction of the pack (although not perfectly).
  • 3/11 - Mark said Perry is starting to do much better with obedience with him! Perry continues to do well with Jen on working recall as well. Again, not flawless, but is definitely responding more consistently, especially with Sit and Come!
  • 3/12 - Perry had an excellent walk with buddy Skye today. Still a bit of pull, but he minded very well. Recall work and sitting with a lure were excellent today. Stay is still rough. Started trying to work a bit of Down in today as well. Seemed to be a new concept for him? We got it a couple of times, so we'll continue to challenge that command in the upcoming days along with fine-tuning recall. :)
  • 3/15 - Perry is doing very well with recall work and Sit now (although he's less responsive if you don't have a treat to reward him with). He got down 3 times in a row today, although he is still needing a gentle hand on his bottom to not pop up the back end while we works on lying down for the treat. That will need some continued practice. :)
