Raja  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Raja's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 11/16 - We definitely have a project on our hands, poor thing. You can see that she wants so badly to be good and affectionate, but is just so fearful. Heartbreaking. She has started warming up to Mark, thankfully, but is still struggling with Jen. We will get there! It just takes a lot of love and patience.
  • 11/19 - Raja is doing very well with Mark now and even gets excited tail wags to see him and be out with him. She is growling less at Jen, but is still not too eager to have any interactions with her.
  • 11/20 - Raja didn't growl at Jen once today! She also hasn't been growling at the other dogs in the office, even when they come up and sniff at her crate! It's slow, but it's progress!
  • 11/21 - Raja growled slightly at Jen this morning, but when she went out to take pictures of Raja and Mark, she did run up to Jen with tail wagging and force her muzzle into Jen's hand affectionately, albeit briefly. She's warming up!
  • 11/23 - Raja met new friend, Nick and behaved very well! She was excited for his attention and even allowed a couple of pets!
  • 11/25 - Raja got out this weekend with Rodeo and Drogo. She's nervous but shows signs of wanting to engage.
  • 11/26 - Raja got out, off-leash, with Drogo. She engaged in play and is learning to do so appropriately. She got a couple of corrections for being a little overbearing, but did extremely well. She also was eager to get pets from Jen a few times today!
  • 11/27 - Raja let Jen take her out on leash today! She was happy and allowed some pets with zero snapping or growling. Huge progress there!
  • 11/28 - Raja is doing well. She is playful with Mark now. She still has moments of barking or growling when dogs pass her crate, but she's also very curious and wants to go up to them in their crates when she is out. She's just not always sure of how to handle herself when stimulated. She has done alright with Drogo out in the run. She really wants to play and will do so for a bit, but gets quickly overstimulated and a little overbearing.
  • 11/30 - She's wagging her tail with Jen in the office now and accepting lots of pets and affection! She's such a sweet girl when she lets her guard down!
  • 12/2 - Raja has really taken to Drogo! She can still be a little bossy in her play, which we are continuing to work, but she loves the big grey dog. :)
  • 12/3 - Raja had a good walk with Mark today. She is easily stimulated and full of anxiety, but she did well. We passed some people and while she tensed and postured a bit, she didn't grown, snarl or snap. The barking dog across the street was a bit more challenging and got some leash tension and pulling, but Mark coaxed her through it. Overall, well done. Much work to do still!
  • 12/4 - Raja got out with the full pack today and did extremely well. She was excited to engage with her new friends!!! (Check out the video!!!)
  • 12/7 - Raja is improving in her pack play and making new friends. She can still be a little intense and overbearing, so we are gently trying to work that without hurting her budding confidence. She is doing much better passing people on walks, but is still struggling with dogs. She gets a little chatty and has a hard time listening still. She tried to redirect at Jen today when she got frustrated and quickly learned that is not okay. The second dog we passed got more of a vocal frustration out of her, but no redirection. We will continue to work this.
  • 12/10 - Raja has been doing a great job in the pack and developing her play skills. We got a new dog in the other night, who hasn't graduated into the pack, but when Raja passes her crate she really wants to meet and play with her. Raja got out on a walk with Mark again today and got much more stimulation as we took her more into downtown St. Johns with more people and activity. She was definitely stimulated but did pretty well. Unfortunately, we didn't come across any dogs during the walk today, but she rocked passing all sorts of people on the sidewalk!
  • 12/11 - Another great day of socializing with the pack. The walk was 50/50 on seeing dogs today. The first dog across the street, a quick "Leave-It" and Raja ignored the dog. However, the next one across the street got her all worked up and ignoring the "Leave-It" command. She got growly with Mark today when he was in the office and she was in the run. She didn't realize it was him and jumped to her fear response. Still much work to do!
  • 12/14 - Raja did well on her walk today. She handled passing people with interest but increasingly less intensity. We did come across an aggressive chihuahua, which naturally got her worked up and she lost her focus. It wasn't her worst reaction on walks though. So that's good! She has a strong prey drive, but she did a great job listening to "Leave-It" today, with small critters.
  • 12/17 - Raja passed a dog on the corner today. (I'll send you the video). She was pretty amped up, but did fairly well. Proximity definitely makes a difference with her. We passed some other dogs across the street and it was much easier for her to listen to and follow "Leave-It."
  • 12/18 - Another walk with the boss man. She was a little amped up and jumped at Mark's son. She got a correction for that and calmed down a bit. She's still more intense than we would like to see passing people and especially dogs, but has shown improvement from when she first arrived. She does better when you can see the issue coming and get a firm "Leave-It" in before she has time to respond of her own volition.
  • 12/19 - Raja got out for a great walk with Mark's son Liam, on his scooter and fellow pup, Pinot. She did extremely well with all of the new stimuli!
  • ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • 1/9/22 - Raja is settling in to the new surroundings, and is eating like a champ! She has warmed up significantly to us, and today went out on a training walk off-premises. She did show some reactivity when approached by another dog, but was very responsive to correction. Way to go, Raja!
