Rudy  - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Rudy's Milestones

Got a Question?

  • 12/30 - Rudy is still a bit nervous, but he is now out with the entire pack. Little bumpy at first, but he is figuring out his place in the group. He sure is sweet, if not stubborn. He showed his resource guarding last night, to which he was quickly convinced that wasn't appropriate and he ceased further negative behavior. I'm hopeful moving forward that he gains more confidence.
  • 1/2 - He's doing much better. He playing well with everyone, and haven't had any resource guarding issues these last few days.
  • 1/6 - Rudy is doing extremely well on his walks. He has a lovely heel, although needs an occasional verbal reminder here and there. He's extremely responsive and happily slides back into place with a variety of cues from vocalizations such as "Heel", "ack", "tch" and hand signals such as a simple finger wag if you have his attention. Such a good, intelligent boy!
  • 1/7 - Rudy had an extra long walk with Jen today and stopped at her place for lunch. He held a down/stay for over 10 minutes while she ate, without complaint! Excellent work! We worked basic obedience, Sit/Stay, Down/Stay and recall this afternoon and he responded perfectly every time! He is very excitable by food, so we are working on "Gentle" as well, so that he calmly accepts his treat rewards.
  • 1/8 - Another stellar walk from Rudy today! He is doing an excellent job with heeling, needing only an occasional, subtle reminder here and there. We passed garbage on the sidewalk today and Rudy picked some up. After a couple of times being told "Drop It", he was still holding on, so we followed up with a stern "Uh-uh, Leave-It" and he let go of the garbage and continued on his walk without issue. We passed a barking dog on tether and Rudy was very interested in the dog, trying to divert over to him, but responded well to "Leave-It" and continued on. He did more recall work in the dog run, this time being allowed to disappear over to the back door, completely out of site before being called to "come." He came when called every time (although sometimes needed to hear the call more than once, since he had no visual cues to help)! Such a good boy!
  • 1/10 - Rudy had a whole new challenge today with recall, being told to come while in the midst of play with new buddy Finnegan, and he rocked it! Excellent work to be listening with such a fun distraction and still respond appropriately!
