Thatcher - Training Photos, Videos and Updates

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Thatcher's Milestones

2/12/21 - Thatcher has been doing an excellent job on his obedience and walks. He is playing really well with the other dogs and he absolutely loved playing in the snow today with his buddies Otto and Luka!

Pawsitive Notes - Tracking Thatcher's Milestones

7/31/20 - Thatcher is such a pro at the Live-In Program lifestyle. He happily follows Jen in and out of the office and eagerly sits at her feet and seeks attention. He'll even hop in the crate without being asked. He absolutely rocked his recall work today. See video!

Got a Question?

  • 12/13 - Thatcher rocked his walk and obedience work today! He only needed a handful of verbal reminders on the walk to "Heel"; "Come"; "Let's Go" or "Leave-It". He has a solid sit. Stay could still use some work, but he's improved quite a bit with it over the past two weeks. Down could use more work, but he definitely understands the concept and even held a Down/Stay today. He's also doing very well with "Leave-It" when working with treats, although he may need a reminder mid wait, he's up to 30 seconds solid and knows when he hears "Free" that he's released to gobble up the treat. He nailed his recall (Come, to me) every time today!
  • 12/10 - Thatcher has definitely settled in and gotten comfortable with everyone and with that, naturally, comes more attitude! He's been pretty vocal today, so we've been working hard on that, trying to reinforce "Quiet!"
  • 12/9 - Thatcher pulls a little more on the harness than the prong collar, but is definitely getting the concept. He just needs more frequent verbal reminders on harness than prong to "Heel", but he knows what it means and is even responsive to a finger snap or a verbal "uh-uh" to fall back in line. His recall isn't perfect, but is much improved. Sit is pretty solid, down definitely needs more work, along with stay. Leave-It is improving as well.
  • 12/6 - Thatcher met some new friends in the pack today and responded aggressively towards one of them, with growling and snapping. He got a correction and redirected the aggression at me, earning him another correction. He spent the next half hour trying to apologize and getting lots of praise for better attempts at play as he learns to pay attention to social cues from the other dogs and to control his impulses better.
  • 12/4 - Thatcher had some poop stuck on his bottom, from his long hair and I attempted to spray it off. Obviously he ran away, so when I finally caught him, he wasn't happy and bit my arm. I was wearing enough clothes that there wasn't any harm, but Thatcher received a correction and was super sweet and completely submissive afterward, allowing himself to get cleaned up.
  • 12/3 - Thatcher is catching on quickly to the concept of heeling with just a couple of walks. He's been on the dead ring of the prong and after giving himself one correction immediately upon wearing it, he got the concept and has been doing great. We'll be trying him on the harness tomorrow to see if the concept is sticking and if he'll continue listening to verbal correction. Such a smart boy!
  • 12/2 - Thatcher has adjusted quickly to his new environment. He is out with the full pack and having a blast playing with new friends!
